
Bellamy Young was born Amy Maria Young in February 1970. [1] She is an American actress, singer in the field of production, acting, and singing who is best known for her character of Melody "Mellie," Grant in ABC's Scandal in 2012-2017. Her performance was so successful that she got the Critics' choice Television Award for the Best Supporting actor in a Drama Series in 2014. She starred in the 2019 season in the role of Prodigal Son on Fox. Young began her career as an actor at the theatre. In 1997 Young made her Broadway debut in the role of Mary in the initial cast of The Life. Some of her off-Broadway credits include Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Rock Along (1994) and in Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). It was her first TV appearance as"Dr. Courtney Evans in 1995 on the NBC's Another World soap opera. The year 1997 was the same and in 1998 she guest starred in two roles on Law & Order. In 1999 she made her film debut with an uncredited role on the crime thriller Black and White and later was a co-star in a number of independent films. Around the turn of the century, she was able to appear on a number of comedy and drama television programs, including The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young was featured in more than 30 appearances on TV shows between 2000 and 2011.
